ReDiscover Backlot
Filmmaker Driven, Viewers Supported
Backlot is a dedicated space inside ReDiscover Television where filmmakers can showcase projects at every stage — and where audiences go beyond watching to help stories grow through attention, feedback, and direct support.
Backlot is not simply hosting. It is a structured development, marketing, and performance ecosystem inside ReDiscover.
What Backlot Is (and What It Isn’t)
Backlot is:
• A discovery + development + marketing pipeline
• A place to build audience early
• A platform to validate interest and generate momentum
• A performance-based ecosystem tied to real engagement
Backlot is not:
• An equity marketplace
• An investment vehicle
• A guaranteed marketing budget
• A replacement for traditional studio-level campaigns
Supporting a project does not create ownership or guaranteed financial returns.
Backlot participation is non-exclusive unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Backlot is curated. Not all submissions are accepted.
Backlot Categories
Projects may appear in one or more of the following categories, depending on where they are in the creative and distribution lifecycle:
Table Reads
Scripts performed aloud to test story, pacing, tone, and character dynamics.
Table Reads allow writers and producers to:
• Hear dialogue in real time
• Identify pacing issues or structural weaknesses
• Gauge audience response before production
• Build early interest around concept and cast
These sessions can be recorded live or pre-produced and serve as an early validation tool before moving into proof-of-concept or production.
Trailers & Teasers
Early previews designed to introduce the concept and generate audience reaction.
Trailers & Teasers help filmmakers:
• Test positioning and messaging
• Refine marketing angles
• Measure click-through and engagement
• Begin building anticipation
This category is ideal for films preparing for production, festival runs, or premiere campaigns.
Proof of Concept
Short scenes, pilot excerpts, or mini-versions that demonstrate tone, world-building, and creative vision.
Proof of Concept projects are designed to:
• Show execution quality
• Demonstrate directing style
• Validate casting choices
• Attract collaborators or supporters
• Build measurable watch-hour engagement
This category bridges the gap between script and full production.
In Development
Projects actively moving through packaging, casting, financing, or pre-production.
“In Development” placement allows filmmakers to:
• Share updates with potential supporters
• Build early audience awareness
• Validate genre interest
• Attract momentum before principal photography
This stage is about visibility and positioning — not finished delivery.
In Post-Production
Films nearing completion that may need finishing support, awareness, or final marketing alignment.
This category is designed for projects that:
• Have completed principal photography
• Are editing, scoring, or finalizing deliverables
• Need audience-building prior to release
• Are preparing for festival, premiere, or distribution windows
In Post-Production projects can begin building momentum before official release.
Finished & Needs Marketing
Fully completed films preparing for audience scale and structured release.
These films are:
• Rights-cleared and delivery-ready
• Positioned for Post-Theatrical Premiere or catalog inclusion
• Seeking audience activation before or between distribution windows
This category is ideal for films that:
• Have completed a festival run
• Have finished theatrical engagement
• Are preparing for subscriber activation prior to AVOD
• Need structured marketing momentum
Finished films may transition directly into the ReDiscover catalog and participate in referral and performance revenue programs.
Completed Films & Catalog Placement
Fully completed films may be accepted directly into the ReDiscover Television catalog based on quality, audience fit, and rights clarity.
ReDiscover is not merely a hosting destination. It introduces additional strategic windows within a film’s lifecycle.
Completed films participate in the same performance ecosystem as Backlot titles, including:
• 50% first-month subscriber referral bonus
• Quarterly Watch-Hour Performance Pool participation
Post-Theatrical Premiere Window
For films completing a theatrical run (or limited theatrical event), ReDiscover may offer a structured Post-Theatrical Premiere Window before AVOD release.
Premiere Window Duration
7–30 days
This limited-time window is designed to:
• Capture momentum immediately following theatrical
• Position the film as a premium subscriber event
• Drive concentrated subscriber growth
• Generate measurable watch-hour engagement
• Preserve value before AVOD release
During the Premiere Window, films are not simultaneously released on AVOD platforms.
This window is marketed as a focused event release inside ReDiscover Television.
After the Premiere Window
Following the 7–30 day Premiere Window, films may:
• Transition into standard catalog placement
• Continue participating in referral revenue
• Continue participating in the Watch-Hour Performance Pool
• Be considered for TVOD, SVOD, or FAST expansion
Ongoing placement is determined case-by-case in collaboration with the filmmaker.
ReDiscover does not require long-term exclusivity unless separately negotiated.
Distribution Lifecycle Positioning
A typical film lifecycle may include:
Festival
Theatrical
TVOD
SVOD
AVOD
International
ReDiscover introduces an additional premium subscriber window between Theatrical and AVOD.
It does not replace traditional distribution — it extends and enhances it.
For Viewers: The Producer Path (3 Tiers)
Backlot allows audiences to participate meaningfully.
Tier 1 — Supporter
• Watch projects early
• Share trailers and proof-of-concepts
• Leave constructive feedback
• Donate directly to filmmakers (optional)
Tier 2 — Producer
• Recognition for consistent participation
• Optional name listing on supported projects
• Access to private updates
• Occasional early screenings
“Producer” recognition is symbolic and does not represent equity ownership.
Tier 3 — Executive Producer Circle
• Invitation-based
• Private roundtables
• Early pitch access
• “Special Thanks” credit placement at filmmaker discretion
• First access to select premieres
Structured Marketing Support (Platform Commitments)
Marketing inside ReDiscover is structured.
Standard Backlot Placement
• Dedicated project page
• Category rotation
• Unique tracked referral link
• Inclusion in grouped Backlot emails
Premiere Placement (Limited Monthly Slots)
• Homepage placement (7–14 days)
• Dedicated email feature
• 3–5 social media posts
• Trailer priority placement
Premiere slots are limited to protect visibility and impact.
Performance-Based Spotlight
Projects meeting defined engagement thresholds may receive:
• Extended homepage visibility
• Additional email push
• Featured campaign rotation
• Consideration for paid amplification
Visibility increases with participation and performance.
Structured Marketing & Audience Activation
ReDiscover does not rely on passive catalog placement. Marketing is structured, time-bound, and performance-aligned.
Our marketing approach combines platform visibility, email activation, collaborative promotion, and performance-based amplification.
Campaign Planning & Positioning
Before a project launches, we align on positioning.
This may include:
• Defining target audience segment
• Clarifying genre positioning
• Identifying optimal campaign window
• Determining premiere vs standard placement
• Establishing measurable goals (subscriber growth, watch hours, engagement)
Marketing begins with positioning clarity — not random exposure.
Platform Placement Strategy
Visibility inside ReDiscover is structured.
Depending on tier and performance, this may include:
• Dedicated project page
• Category rotation placement
• Homepage feature (7–14 day Premiere Window)
• Trailer priority placement
• Featured row inclusion during campaign
Homepage and premiere placements are limited and curated to protect impact.
Email Activation
ReDiscover maintains a large audience email list. Campaign inclusion may include:
• Grouped Backlot campaign emails
• Dedicated Premiere email feature
• Performance-based second push (if thresholds met)
Email performance is monitored and summarized in quarterly reporting.
Email marketing is structured and intentional. It is not mass-blast exposure without positioning.
Social Media Amplification
Campaign marketing may include:
• 3–5 social posts during Premiere Window
• Trailer spotlights
• Story features
• Cross-posting across relevant genre segments
High-performing projects may qualify for extended social amplification.
Collaborative Marketing Model
Backlot and Premiere campaigns are collaborative.
Filmmakers are expected to:
• Send at least two campaign emails to their audience
• Publish at least three social posts
• Direct traffic through tracked referral links
Marketing is most effective when platform and filmmaker audiences activate simultaneously.
ReDiscover amplifies momentum — it does not replace creator-driven promotion.
Performance-Based Amplification
Projects that meet defined engagement thresholds may receive additional support, including:
• Extended homepage placement
• Additional email feature
• Retargeting opportunities (when applicable)
• Featured campaign rotation
Amplification increases with measurable performance.
Post-Theatrical Premiere Campaign (Completed Films)
For completed films entering the 7–30 day Post-Theatrical Premiere Window, marketing is positioned as a premium subscriber event.
This may include:
• Homepage Premiere banner
• Dedicated Premiere email announcement
• Coordinated social rollout
• Focused engagement push during launch week
The goal is concentrated momentum before AVOD release.
Premiere campaigns are limited in number to maintain visibility integrity.
Quarterly Reporting & Transparency
Filmmakers receive quarterly summary reports including:
• Total watch hours
• Engagement share percentage
• Referral subscriber count
• Referral bonus earnings
• Performance pool allocation
This ensures transparency without creating administrative burden.
Marketing Philosophy
ReDiscover marketing is:
• Structured
• Time-bound
• Collaborative
• Performance-aligned
• Sustainable
It is not:
• Guaranteed mass exposure
• Paid studio-level advertising
• Algorithmic placement without clarity
Our goal is measurable momentum, not vague visibility.
Filmmaker Participation Requirements
Backlot and Premiere campaigns are collaborative.
Filmmakers must:
• Provide a complete marketing asset kit
• Confirm full rights ownership and non-conflict
• Commit to active promotion during campaign window
• Send at least two emails to their audience
• Publish at least three social posts promoting their Backlot link
Backlot amplifies momentum — it does not replace creator effort.
Projects not meeting participation standards may not qualify for elevated tiers.
Filmmaker Earnings & Revenue Participation
Backlot and completed films benefit from multiple revenue pathways.
1) Producer Credit Bonus (Subscriber Referral)
Each project receives a unique tracked “Join ReDiscover” link.
If a new subscriber joins through that link, the filmmaker receives:
50% of that subscriber’s first month subscription revenue
Applies to first month only.
Calculated and paid quarterly following revenue reconciliation.
2) Watch-Hour Performance Pool
A percentage of Backlot-attributed subscription revenue is allocated quarterly to a Performance Pool.
Example:
If Backlot drives $40,000 in subscription revenue
Pool at 5% = $2,000
Distribution Formula:
(Project Watch Hours ÷ Total Backlot Watch Hours) × Pool
Pool typically ranges 5–8% of attributed subscription revenue, capped at 10%.
This ensures:
• Rewards tied to engagement
• Payouts funded only by collected revenue
• Long-term sustainability
Pool percentages may be adjusted at ReDiscover’s discretion.
3) Direct Donations
Filmmakers may include donation links.
Donations:
• Are processed by the filmmaker’s chosen provider
• Go directly to the filmmaker
• Are not subject to platform fees
Donations do not represent equity participation.
Reporting & Transparency
Filmmakers receive quarterly summary reports including:
• Total watch hours
• Engagement share percentage
• Referral subscriber count
• Referral bonus totals
• Performance pool allocation
Reports provide summary metrics, not raw user-level data.
How the System Works (Simple Model)
A) Subscriber Growth Reward
Tracked referral links attribute new subscribers. Filmmaker receives 50% of first-month revenue.
B) Engagement Rewards
Quarterly Performance Pool distributed proportionally by watch hours.
C) Donations Are Creator-Direct
Support flows directly from viewer to filmmaker.
D) Marketing & Distribution Pathway
High-performing projects may be considered for expanded TVOD, SVOD, FAST, featured campaigns, and strategic introductions.
Strategic Positioning Summary
ReDiscover is:
• A development runway (Backlot)
• A premium subscriber activation window (Post-Theatrical Premiere)
• A performance-based catalog ecosystem
• A bridge between theatrical and AVOD
It is not:
• A flat-fee dumping ground
• A vague marketing promise
• An equity crowdfunding platform
It is a structured, audience-aligned distribution layer designed to extend a film’s lifecycle and create measurable momentum.
